Call for Nominations for the WSO PTA Board of Directors, School Year 2017-2018

Aloha Fellow Wilson Parents,

All members of the Wilson School community are part of our Wilson School Ohana. The WSO PTA is always looking for individuals willing to step forward and become an active member on the WSO PTA Board of Directors. The WSO Board guides WSO business each year. Members are expected to attend the monthly WSO PTA meeting (2nd Thursday of each month). The Board of Directors plan fundraising activities and set the budget each year. It is a fun and rewarding way to be involved in your child’s school.

Nominations are being accepted for 14 of the 18 Board of Director seats (excluding the Principal and Teacher Representative seats). Elected Board of Directors members will select the Officers of WSO PTA Board of Directors for 2017-2018 at the June Board of Directors meeting.

The Board of Directors includes 18 members:

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Treasurer
  • Recording Secretary
  • Corresponding Secretary
  • 9 Member-At-Large Board seats
  • 3 Teacher Representatives
  • Principal

Nomination / Election Timeline:

  • April 13th Call for Nominations sent home via Thursday Envelope
  • April 20th Nominations Due
  • April 27th Ballots Sent Out
  • May 4th Ballots Due
  • June 8th Newly elected Board Members & new Teacher Reps are asked to attend this meeting to nominate & vote for the Officers of the 2017-2018 WSO PTA Board of Directors
  • July 13th First meeting for the new 2017-2018 WSO PTA Board of Directors

  • Participate in WSO monthly meetings.
  • Participate in joint PCNC – WSO family events.
  • Volunteer at fundraisers or events.

  • Air conditioning for classrooms
  • Staff subsidies for classroom expenses
  • Music equipment
  • After school programs
  • Library Media Center
  • Computers and computer repairs
  • Service Learning Programs (JPO, Peer Mediators, Student Council, and Basketball Team)
  • Parent-Child activities co-sponsored with the PCNC
  • STEM Programs
